Module 3: Winemaking Process

Trainers
Anke Hartmann
Anke is originally from Dresden, Germany.
After completing her apprentice as a chef in a Michelin Starred Restaurant in Central Germany, she gained experience in several fine establishments in Switzerland, France and England before changing her chefs Jacket to a Sommeliers one in 2002 in the UK.
Having had the amazing opportunity over the years to be inspired and learn from some of the best Sommeliers in the world including the late Gerard Basset (Best Sommelier in the World 2010) she attended Sommeliers Competitions to sharpen her knowledge in wines, spirits, beers, sake and cocktails.
Anke moved to Ireland to take up the rains as Head Sommelier at the then newly opened Cliff House Hotel in the countryside and helped making it a landmark for great food and wine experiences, nowadays and institution.
After 13 years abroad her roots took her back to Germany to take on a one Michelin starred restaurant to turn it into a two Michelin Star in a year, successfully. Exploring Germanys Wine Regions and its delicious wines was the crème on the top of the experience before returning back to Ireland.
After completing her WSET Diploma and the Certified Sommelier Certificate from the Court of Master Sommeliers she started teaching for fellow colleagues and finally ran her own WSET courses Levels 1- 3 in Dublin in 2016.
Her talent & love for teaching about wines did not stop here it rather opened new doors to running Wine courses in Mallorca, private & public Masterclasses.
Her career doesn’t stop here, Anke gained the highly regarded qualification as Advanced Sommelier at the Court of Master Sommeliers, won the Best Sommelier of Ireland in 2022 following on and represented Ireland in the World’s Best Sommelier Competition in Paris in 2023.
Her next stepping stone is the Master Sommeliers Diploma a long term dream to be achieved and one of the most difficult Exams to pursue in the Wine & Beverage World, there are currently only 271 in the world that manage to pass all parts of the Exam successfully.
